Hi. My name is Helen Temperley.
I am a North East UK based artist and designer living in the ex pit village of Ferryhill in County Durham. I work from home, designing printed t-shirts, clothing and accessories in my studio, and, alongside my mate Sid, renovating furniture in my basement workshop.
My clothing sells around the world, and has been featured in many blogs, websites and magazines, which makes me happy and proud, as I have worked really hard on developing my brand for the last few years, with many ups, downs, and backflips in the process. I have my clothing designs printed digitally onto organic and/or ethically produced items only. No sweatshop stuff allowed!
My designs reflect my love of nature, animals, vintage, and a little bit of my dark side. I like to collage together vintage drawings, as well as mix them up with my own artwork, thoughts and ideas. I also love to work with customer suggestions and ideas, they are sometimes brilliant, and always get my creative juices flowing.
I absolutely love old furniture. I love bringing it back to life. Myself and my work partner Sid have renovated many pieces, working with customers to get exactly the look they want for their beloved old stuff. We take commissions as well as just letting our imagination run loose on bits we find, buy, drag from skips, or get given. Our workshop is quite crammed with all kinds of 'that'll come in usefuls'.
Away from work, I love my home and garden, which is my sanctuary that I share with my son, four cats, two fish, and lots of spiders. I also love music, going out, taking photos (I'm not as good as I'd very much like to be but I try!), reading, being vegan, walking and decorating. Thanks for visiting, if there's anything you'd like to know or request, just drop me a line.
